1st Chronicles 16:24
“Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!”
I am going on the World Race for three main reasons.
The first reason is that God has called me to overseas missions. One Sunday at church, I found myself questioning whether God truly wanted me to pursue this path. I asked Him for a sign or direction. During the invitation time, my pastor said, “I don’t make this call often, but I hope the Holy Spirit has. Maybe God is calling you to the mission field; some of you are called to go on overseas missions. Wherever He is calling you, don’t be resistant; it’s His grace that allows you to hear His will and respond to it!” I was amazed, as just an hour earlier, I had been praying for guidance, and in that moment, He responded.
The second reason is that I had no clear direction after high school. I’m not saying I was on a bad path or that I wasn’t looking for opportunities; it’s just that nothing stood out to me, and I felt I hadn’t been called to a specific job or career.
The third reason is my long-standing interest in other cultures and countries. There is so much more to the world than just the USA, and by traveling abroad, I hope to gain a greater understanding of the situations and lives of people in different places. I want to be humbled by the realization of how fortunate I am to have food on the table every day and access to clean water.
In summary, I am going on this mission trip out of obedience to God’s will for my life, to seek discernment for my future, and out of my love for foreign countries and cultures.
